However, this is where their similarities end and some of the differences really become apparent. The serviced office is simply a fully furnished office that provides businesses with a fit out that does not require them to pay for anything, except the one bill at the end of the month. Furthermore, with serviced offices, businesses are usually given a receptionist to answer calls, and while some coworking outfits might provide this for employees, this usually comes standard with the serviced office. In essence, the professional actually rents actual space and the leasing company provides the furniture and other amenities.
Another great difference between the two offices is that the co-working office allows professionals a little more flexibility as opposed to the serviced office. Co-working offices are such that if a person decides they want to move to another location in New Zealand or in another part of the world, they would have no problem with relocating. It is a matter of finding a new co-working office in the new city.
The serviced office, while providing more flexibility than in other conventional office plans, is less flexible than the typical co-working space. For a business to pick up and move, they would have to first find an office in the city where they intend to work and then have the leasing office modify their lease, and this is only if the outfit is large enough to have offices in other cities. While serviced offices are scalable, they do not provide professionals with the same mobility.
