Quote of the day

“We were promised a pre-Budget report and we got a pre-election one.  No-one will believe a word they say on the economy again.”

- George Osborne’s response to the PBR, which he described as a “catastrophe”, adding that every family in the UK would be “paying the price” for Labour’s mistakes.

  1. No one believed them before now anyway.

  2. I do believe them. I think they really do have no intention of seriously tackling the deficit. They don’t understand basic economics or finance, and they think that Keynes gives them carte blanche to run a deficit forever. I believe that if they win the next election, they will carry on as before, maybe put through some minor tax rises, spend more on “frontline services” and assume that everything will be fine. That would of course lead to a real catastrophe – with the country bankrupt and our currency worthless.

  3. I thought that Alistair Darling’s “We take these decisions from a position of strength” was the quote of the day, the week and possibly the year…

  4. As it not occurred to the thinking blogging elite, some of
us ,the dispossesed inhabiting the Wastelands , could not
give a illuminated toss about the fiscal deficit.
Sooner the degregation and depravity spreads to the stunted
unconcerned Metrofolk ,the better..The well heeled Liberati
sipping their Lavazzis will soon smell the foul breath of
the unwanted Chav, ever closer, ever more menacing.
And what of the perfumed parrots in the Tory ranks ,can they
spray some Chanel on this cesspool which they helped to fill.
Sorry Dave,,count us out,,,pander to the parasites

    Paradise lost

  5. I think the quote of the day was, ‘the public will know the new golden rule, never trust labour with your money!’
