Quote of the day
“This year the choice was unanimous. Rod Stewart, Brian Jones, Keith Richards in their prime were schoolboys compared to him.”
- Rolling Stone magazine’s Italian editor Carlo Antonelli, explaining why Silvio Berlusconi has won the ’Rock Star of the Year’ title. The Italian version of Rolling Stone magazine chose the 73-year-old prime minister and media tycoon for “a lifestyle for which the words ‘rock and roll’ fall short”. “Silvio Berlusconi’s daily behaviour, his furious vitality, his inimitable lifestyle have given him, especially this year, incredible international popularity,” he added.

He had the coke, the hookers and definitely the money and adulation but he didn’t have the music. So while it’s an ostensible “rock’n'roll” fail, it has an admirable joie d’vie that in our anglo culture is hard to identify in a non-musical context. And whatever it is he has, you can’t doubt he does it to the max. Compare that to geriatric Rupe and his sole younger wife.
Silvio has hot and cold, running, top notch chicks. Huge money. Massive business. Top of a big-four government. So yeah, baby…
ROCK AND ROLL, SILVIO! ROCK AND ROLL!
He didn’t have the music but he still knows how to work his mojo like a rock star, even at his age. *shudder*
Well deserved! Rock on Silvio.
