Quote of the day

“We don’t have an open-door policy. It is misleading to say we have got one or that we have ever had one. We manage immigration.”

- Alan Johnson, who clearly has not heard of the European Union, speaking to the Independent (full article HERE)

  1. And this is the guy leftists are hoping will be the next leader of the Labour Party?

They deliberately allowed excessive immigration as an act of party political spite, there was no open door policy, they got rid of the door and the walls too.

  2. Maybe we should direct him to ‘Burning Our Money’ who did a recent analysis on immigration figures and found we’d let in 2.7M immigrants (http://burningourmoney.blogspot.com/2009/10/migration-update.html).

Then suggest the addition of the prefix ‘mis’ – to be added to his word of choice, ‘manage’.

That’s better, sentence now reads ‘We mismanage immigration’.

  3. “We don’t have an open-door policy. It is misleading to say we have got one or that we have ever had one”

The original draft of that sentence was less full of bullshit obfuscatory…

“We don’t have an open-door policy. It is misleading to say we have got one or that we have ever had one. We removed the door in 1997 because it was obstructing the flow…”

  4. I came to comment purely to give the Burning Our Money link on this and FLS has beat me too it.

Johnson’s comments show just how out of touch they are with the country. We now have reams of information available about labour’s behaviour since 1997 on this issue.
