Quote of the day
“Bruno is particularly vile. It leads to a hell of a lot of complaints. It will offend every prejudice in the book, believe me, so don’t come on after and tell us how horrible it was. One or two have enjoyed it, though.”
- the recorded message left on the ticket hotline of the Diamond Screen cinema in Navan, Ireland, regarding the tasteless antics of the gay Austrian TV reporter played by Sacha Baron Cohen. The film is about a gay fashion fanatic who wants to be “the most famous Austrian since Hitler”, and the Austrian press are already on the defensive. Baron Cohen’s most controversial lines in the film include: “I want to live the Austrian dream of finding a partner, buying a dungeon and starting a family” and “K is for ‘Kampf, mein… ze fashion bible written by Austria’s black sheep Adolf Hitler”. Austrian writers are anticipating that the country may have a similar experience to Kazakhstan, which is still recovering from the pitiless satire directed at the nation by the British comedian’s last film ‘Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan’.

Unless the Austrians have changed a lot in the last two decades, I suspect they’ll be able to take the joke. It’s a rather chilled out nation.
I think ‘The Sound of Music’ was a much worse defamation of the character of the Austrian people!
Sascha Baron Cohen has a way of bringing out people who don’t realise what the real joke is. He’s awfully clever like that. But the more complaints his films get, the more effect they have had, so I say good luck to him!
Mr Lfat,
You seen film Boris? I think you will enjoy very much. You not stuffy Engleesh man. You say ‘Your ‘cup of tea.’ Very nice. I know. Boris my friend – not that way Mr Lfat~!
Wowwawewa
from Borat, your friend
Sacha Baron-Cohen manages to be the only unfunny Jewish stand up comedian that has ever existed. He’s only a comedian if comedian = deviant embarrasment to the UK.
Down with this sort of thing

This is just cashing in on the ridiculous climate of political correctness that we are having to live with day by day.
He’s not particularly funny, but the reactions to his brand of humour are hysterical!
Anything that gives PC a kick up the backside, is OK in my books.
sacha baron-cohen is a genius. The early interviews with Ali G are some of the funniest satire of British life in recent times, and borat took the mickey far more from the yanks than kazakstan. I am quite looking forward to Bruno.
The man who dares (to wear a mankini) wins!
The Ukraine have banned it!!!
