Quote of the day

“People might think I’m nuts, but I like to think it’s Jesus looking out for us.”

- one of Margaret Moran’s constituents celebrating her resignation Claire Allen, 36, who is convinced that she found an image of Jesus on the underside of a Marmite lid. Her husband Gareth said: “The kids are still eating it, but we kept the lid.” He explained: “Claire saw it first and called her dad to come and take a photo of it. When I first looked at it I wasn’t sure, but when I moved it away from me it started coming out. I thought yeah, she’s right – that’s the image of Jesus.” Claire said her 14-year-old son Jamie had also remarked on the likeness. She told the South Wales Echo: “Straight away Jamie said ‘that looks like God’, and my other boys (Robbie, 4, and Tomas, 11) even said they could see a face. …We’ve had a tough couple of months; my mum’s been really ill and it’s comforting to think that if he is there, he’s watching over us.”

  1. Hasn’t it crossed your mind that she might not be quite as serious as you imply she is. Is the undertone that she’s a religious nutcase ? Your manifesto makes some firm statements against faith schools, so I presume you are not neutral on the matter.

I suggest you stick to writing about politics – this is a good blog, apart from posts such as the above which display a shallowness of mind.

  2. Errr, Dave, I cut and paste my quotes of the day from other sources – not a word of this post was mine. By all means, criticise the BBC for their ’shallowness of mind’. On a personal note, I don’t think she was joking for a second and I would have put this story up on my blog even if someone claimed to see David Beckham in marmite.

Ah but LFAT, Jesus saves but Beckham *scores*…

  4. Jesus: you either love him or you hate him.

Funny aside – I’m a right handed atheist marmite-hater but the majority of my girlfriends. right up to my lovely wife, are left handed marmite eaters. Opposites attract, eh?

  6. Why would Jesus appear on a marmite lid?
    Why am I asking..?
    Why?

    And finally tonight, Jesus…
