Quote of the day
“We want them to register their activity as a business – it’s still taxable, even if it’s a hobby.”
- Dag Hardyson, a tax official in Sweden, discussing the authorities’ decision to examine websites that feature Swedish strippers in an effort to identify them and make them pay tax on their earnings. The lost tax revenue is estimated at about 40 million Swedish kronor (£3.3 million) annually. Mr Hardyson said 200 Swedish strippers had been investigated so far but the total could reach 500, adding that strippers could be liable to pay about half of their earnings in tax.

Half their earnings? So basically, one boob belongs to the state? Ah, the glories of the “social model”.
I read that Margaret Thatcher once slapped a copy of The Road To Serfdom on her desk and said, “THIS is what we believe!” We need a bit more of that again in the Tory Party, methinks. What have we got instead? Dave “We are not libertarians” Cameron. It’s like the 80s never happened, isn’t it?
I wonder if UK webcam strippers earn enough to hit the new 45% tax bracket? They must be quaking in their… errrmm…. underwear.
