Quote of the day
“CAUTION! ZOMBIES AHEAD!”
- a message displayed by pranksters, who have figured out how to alter the text on electronic road signs in three US states which now display joke messages instead of detailing traffic problems. The latest breach came on Tuesday during the morning rush hour near Collinsville, Illinois, where hackers changed a sign along Interstate 255 to read, “DAILY LANE CLOSURES DUE TO ZOMBIES.” A day earlier in Indiana’s Hamilton County, the electronic message on a board in Carmel’s construction zone warned drivers of “RAPTORS AHEAD.” Signs in Austin, Texas, recently flashed: “NAZI ZOMBIES! RUN!!!” and “ZOMBIES IN AREA! RUN.” (full story HERE).

Wonderful!
I think the raptor message may be a reference to the xkcd comic, btw.
Reminds me of many years ago, when the firemen were striking, I won a “best letter” prize from a motoring mag. I wrote that, travelling home on the Sunday evening, I had noticed that the matrix signs said “FIREFIGHTERS STRIKE – TAKE EXTRA CARE”. I asked if anyone had been there the following morning to see if they had been updated to read “STRIKE OVER – DRIVE LIKE IDIOTS AGAIN”.
It did make me chuckle when I saw the picture of it, knowing that hundreds if not thousands of motorists would have to make a split-second decision as to whether they may in fact be zombies or raptors ahead.
