I had a chuckle at this. Here in China they have been teaching all university students IT and English for so long now, to equip the country for the new world, that there is not a young professional under 30 who can't get around the Great Firewall and read all the news from the outside world! This similarly will have "unexpected" consequences.
Reply to this comment - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3458','beachhutman','I had a chuckle at this.
I know, it sounds all well and good and maybe some useful employees will be made - but their screening procedure just involves looking at which applicants have a criminal record. I seriously doubt most hackers, especially young ones, have been caught before.
Reply to this comment - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3457','Letters From A Tory','I know, it sounds all well and good and maybe some useful employees will be made - but their screening procedure just involves looking at which applicants have a criminal record.
Sounds like a pretty cool course, to me - where do I sign up? :-)

It's the same principle that has car manufacturers employing known car thieves to help them design their security measures. These guys spend all their time breaking into computer systems and sending details of their vulnerabilities to the manufacturers.

The biggest debate was on whether they should publish the details of the security vulnerabilities they find and how to exploit them - on one hand it sounds unethical to release the information, but there's a strong case that companies like Apple and Microsoft wouldn't do anything about their security issues of there wasn't the threat of being publicly exposed.
Reply to this comment - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3456','Stu','Sounds like a pretty cool course, to me - where do I sign up? :-)\n\nIt\'s the same principle that has car manufacturers employing known car thieves to help them design their security measures.
