232 people?! For crying out loud. I bet you loads of them are doing jobs that are completely unrelated to running trains - advertising, media, PR etc.

My own experience of being in a union has been extremely positive, but I get really angry when they start trying to box above their weight. PFI is indeed just a manipulation of government spending and has already racked up a debt of almost £100 billion that we'll all be paying for many years from now.
Reply to this comment - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3273','Letters From A Tory','232 people?!
Pfi`s are usually there because they are off the balance sheet and massage borrowing .
On salaries here is a good one
'Transport for London employs 232 people on more than £100,000 per year. The home office employs 43 the treasury seven'
Can`t say I object to strikes for pay rises. It doesnot cause inflation , it is inflation. I happily agree that RMT are scum but then so are the Fire brigade and the Police , equally extortionate .
Unions generally do have a function and I actually have a bit of a soft spot for them..up to a point
Reply to this comment - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('3272','newmania','Pfi`s are usually there because they are off the balance sheet and massage borrowing .\nOn salaries here is a good one\n\'Transport for London employs 232 people on more than £100,000 per year.
I forgot to mention that all the people going on strike earn at least £30,000 - some of them well over £50,000 - but they still feel that in this economic climate, their actions are justified.

Unbelievable.
Reply to this comment - Quote this comment
