No excuses please, Wendy

Dear Wendy Alexander,

I’m bored of your excuses well before the Electoral Commission makes a decision about referring your donations to the police.  Just like with Peter Hain, the facts don’t match your account of what happened.

Everyone can see that the sums of money being discussed here are not in the same league as Peter Hain, but your inability to follow a sensible course of action has opened you up to at best serious criticism and at worst a police investigation.  You received money, you took three months to declare it when you are only allowed one month, you took two months to even ask for any advice on the matter, and now you’re in seriously hot water.  I was totally unable to muster any sympathy for Peter Hain and I find myself in precisely the same position with you.  I doubt you are the only politician in the UK who has made this kind of blunder but it reeks of poor organisation, lack of respect for the rules and a belief that you probably wouldn’t get caught.

You can talk tough in the media all you want, but your career is hanging by a thread and you know it.

Yours sincerely,

A.Tory
