Simple solution, just ban Facebook
Dear readers,
I am not shy about using Facebook at home. In fact, it’s an absolute revelation when it comes to keeping track of people and events etc.
BUT
Surely employers (especially public sector organisations) should ban Facebook to prevent it eating up their employee’s time? When you read articles like this, it does make you wonder about how much damage social networking can do to productivity. My previous employer banned all social networking and all personal email accounts to prevent us wasting our time, and I don’t blame them.
Your thoughts?

It’s blocked where I work, as are sites like MySpace and Micorosft WebMessenger. Blogger comments are blocked and so are some Blogger blogs. Even Liam Byrne MP’s website is blocked … and quite right to, shouldn’t be explosed to filth like Liebour websites!
If it’s a rubbish/underpaid job can you really blame them?
No normal person thinks ‘I shouldn’t do this because it’ll affect overall productivity’ unless they’re well paid or the owner of the business!
Not sure I agree with you, Leon. Someone not getting paid much is no reason to allow them to spend time on Facebook.
If you give anyone a chance to spend time on Facebook they probably will log onto the site, but why give them a chance to log on in the first place?
