Time to ponder

Dear Gordon Brown,

Feeling a little nervous, are we?  During your PM briefing today, it was hardly noteworthy that you sidestepped the possibility of election in the immediate future.  You wouldn’t want to give the Opposition any prior warning for obvious reasons.  So the question now is where do you go from here?  With the latest polls (which admittedly seem to change every second these days) showing that your lead is little more than 20 seats on a good day, surely you wouldn’t be stupid enough to call an election?  Goading the Tories is one thing, and you’ve had plenty of opportunities to do so thanks to some poor decisions from several of your opponents, but calling an election is something quite different.  Let’s be honest, no-one wants to be the shortest serving Prime Minister in over 100 years!

The time for your decision is fast-approaching.  I just can’t help but wonder if putting off an election will give you more time to build a lead, or more time to lose it?

Yours truly,

A.Tory
